route
As you are aware our organisation, helping hands to Africa, was due to set off in January 2010 on the charity drive to Africa. Unfortunately we have recently received some very disturbing news which has lead us to make the painful decision in changing our trip. The FCO along with the Moroccan embassy has warned us of a threat of terrorism which has been spreading through Mali and is also affecting Mauritania and Western Sahara; specifically involving kidnappings and killings of people driving through these countries. Obviously we have taken this threat into serious consideration and have therefore decided that we cannot risk the lives of our volunteers by driving through these dangerous areas.
However there is light at the end of this very dark tunnel. We have decided that we do not want to let our sponsors, supporters and most importantly our charities down, so we have made the decision to ship the vehicles over in containers. They will be shipped to Ghana hopefully for arrival towards the end of January and we will then fly over to meet them and drive them down to Village by Village. Though this decision does put some hope back into our hearts, it does come with a large cost implication. This is why it is important, now more than ever for us to keep on fundraising so that we do not let anybody down!
With that said we would like to thank you so much for the donations and support you have already given, we would ask that you keep up this amazing work and if there is any more you could offer us it would be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards from all of us at Helping Hands to Africa.
