about us
Welcome to our site!
Tyrefort to Timbuktu trip. What started as a ‘little run’ to support communities in Mali, Western Africa has rather snowballed into donating vehicles and spare parts alongside medical equipment, educational support materials and comfort equipment for orphanages to a range of charities in the locality of Gambia, Ghana and Mali.
On the 2nd January 2009 we will setting off from Goodyear's Tyrefort in Birmingham and over the next 4 weeks we will be travelling down through west Africa, finnishing our journey in Ghana.
Our crew members will include mechanics,Photographers and medics, and between us all there is plenty of 4x4 driving experience!
Our team isn't complete just yet though, we are still looking for more people who could come along with us and help us on are journey.
We will be useing a minimum of seven 110 Land Rover Defenders and a Discovery so far to complete our jouney with two crew members to each car.
Along the way we will be helping schools and health care centres in Africa, supplying them with new equipment such as books pencils and soft toys, balls and some of the cars will have beds fitted and medical equipment so they can be used as ambulance's for health care centres for patients in areas with difficult terrains.
Our sponsors will be helping us fund this event, but as well as this each crew member will be doing their best to raise money in their own ways throughout the year. The more money that we have to fund our journey, the more we can do to help the charities
